Welcome to the homepage of the artist Fritz Schwarz-Waldegg!

Fritz Schwarz-Waldegg’s oeuvre strongly reflects the artist’s personal life experiences. War impressions led to an expressionist, almost Cubist style of painting, but as a traveller he also preserved his ethnographic view of traditional living environments in local and foreign cultures. Robbed of the possibility of artistic activity in his last years, Schwarz-Waldegg was deported and murdered in the summer of 1942. Today he is regarded as a pioneer of Austrian expressionist painting after 1918 – however a large part of his work is considered lost. Few Austrian collections feature his paintings, on the art market they are therefore traded as sought-after rarities.

We are pleased to provide you information about the life and work of this remarkable artist. Widder Fine Arts constantly offers Schwarz-Waldegg paintings for sale – we are also interested in purchasing his works.

You reach us by phone (01 / 512 45 69 or 0676 / 629 81 21) or e-mail (office@kunsthandelwidder.com). We are also pleased to invite you to our gallery in Vienna.
